Karnataka political crisis | Live updates: Only 5 out of 13 resignations are in order, says Speaker

Twenty one Congress and nine JD(S) Ministers submitted their resignation to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Tuesday, in an effort to save the coalition government. Speaker Mr. Ramesh Kumar says only five of the 13 resignations are in order.  He has asked three legislators to appear before him on July 12 and two legislators on July 13.

In a countrywide operation, the CBI carried out searches at 110 locations in 19 States in connection with fresh cases related to alleged corruption, arms smuggling and criminal misconduct, officials said on July 9. The CBI has registered 30 fresh cases, they said.

Ayodhya: SC to hear plea saying mediation proceedings not moving

The  Supreme Court  on Tuesday agreed to examine a plea of a claimant to the disputed Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land that the mediation proceedings triggered by the court to heal hearts and minds is making no headway. In an urgent mentioning before a Bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, the claimant asked the court to instead list the Ayodhya appeals for hearing “at the earliest”.

India on Tuesday reiterated that construction work for the  Kartarpur Corridor project  that will allow pilgrims here to access the famed gurudwara on Pakistani territory was on track. The U.S. State Department has approved the possible sale to  Taiwan  of M1A2T Abrams tanks, Stinger missiles and related equipment at an estimated value of $2.2 billion, the Pentagon said on Monday, despite Chinese criticism of the deal.
