Urjit Patel steps down as RBI Governor

Dr. Urjit Patel on Monday announced that he was stepping down from his position as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor. “On account of personal reasons, I have decided to step down from my current position effective immediately”, his statement said.

Vijay Mallya to be extradited, orders U.K. court

A UK court Monday ordered Vijay Mallya's extradition, in a major boost to India's efforts to bring back the fugitive wanted for alleged fraud and money laundering charges amounting to an estimated ₹ 9,000 crores. Delivering the verdict, Westminster Magistrates' Court Chief Magistrate Judge Emma Arbuthnot said that there was "no sign of a false case being mounted against him".

"Having considered evidence as a whole. There is a case to answer," Judge Arbuthnot said as she ruled that 62-year-old Mallya could be extradited to India to stand trial on the charges brought by the CBI and the ED.

VVIP Chopper case: Delhi Court extends CBI custody of Christian Michel by five days

A Delhi Court on Monday granted further 5-day remand of Christian Michel, the alleged middleman who has been chargesheeted in the graft-tainted AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal, for his custodial interrogation by the CBI.
