Ahmedabad: After his tour of Portugal, the U.S., and the Netherlands, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is embarking on a two-day visit to Gujarat from Thursday. Mr. Modi is scheduled to visit Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Gandhinagar and Modasa to attend events.

“The Prime Minister will visit Aji Dam in Rajkot, which is being filled with Narmada water for the first time, and attend a government camp to distribute assistive devices to over 18,000 people,” said Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.

Mr. Modi will lead a 10-km road show from the airport to Aji Dam. The city has been decked up, and over 1,000 State transport buses are being hired to bring people from villages for the PM’s events.

On Thursday, before proceeding to Rajkot, Mr. Modi will visit Sabarmati Ashram, which is celebrating its centenary year, and release a commemorative coin and postal stamp on Shrimad Rajchandra, the spiritual guru of Mahatma Gandhi.

On Friday, the Prime Minister will visit Modasa town to inaugurate two water supply projects worth ₹552 crore for tribal areas. He will then head to Gandhinagar to inaugurate the three-day International Textile Conference and Exhibition at Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre.

In the evening, he will arrive in Ahmedabad where he will address youths at a programme in Maninagar. The event will be held at TransStadia, a stadium complex in Maninagar, which used to be Mr. Modi’s Assembly constituency during his stint as the Chief Minister.
