The much awaited Ashtabandhana Mahakumbabishekam of the ancient Arulmigu Kailasanatharswami Temple in Tharamangalam town will be held on April 22.
The ritual is being held after 24 years. According to ahama guidelines, the Mahakumbabishekam is to be performed once in 12 years.
The Kailasanatharswami Temple is famous for its historical importance and architectural marvel. The intricately carved stone sculptures attract devotees and tourists from across the country round the year.
The renovation works in connection with the Mahakumbabishekam are already in full swing and in the final stages of completion. Painting of images of Gods and Goddesses on the Rajagopuram at the entrance and the vimanas atop the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Ambal, Sri Sivakami, Sri Subramaniar and Sri Natarajar, carried out by a team of skilled artistes, are nearing completion.
According to Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR and CE) sources, the kumbabishekam is expected to attract a large number of devotees and as such steps have been taken to hold the event in a fitting manner.
