The BJP on Friday organised a demonstration in support of NEET in front of the collectorate here.
The leaders said that NEET immensely benefited the students of Tamil Nadu. The left front ruled state of Kerala and the Congress ruled Karnataka have accepted NEET.
In the name of social justice the opposition parties such as DMK, Congress, CPI, CPI (M), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (CVK) were indulging in caste politics. These parties were cheating the student community of the state for their own political benefits.
The participants raised slogans condemning the anti-democratic and anti-nationalistic forces which were blocking the right initiatives of the Centres to upgrade the education system in the state.
The NEET in no way affected 69 % reservation and the six candidates in the top ten in the state in NEET belonged to backward classes, they said.
R. P. Gopinath, president of the Salem urban district unit of the party led the agitation. R. Prakash, divisional in-charge, B. Baskaran, state executive member of the party, spoke explaining how NEET benefited the state students.

The demonstration held on the Park road in the town was led by N. P. Sathiamoorthy, district president. The BJP cadre raised slogans against the DMK and left parties for misleading the public on NEET for making political gains. C. K. Saraswathi, State secretary of the party and S. K. Karventhan, a former MP and in-charge of the Coimbatore Parliamentary constituency unit of the party, spoke.
