The Women Police Station, North Goa, on Saturday, informed the Panaji Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) that a charge sheet would be filed in two days against Goa BJP vice-president Anil Hoble in a case pertaining to allegedly grievously assaulting and injuring his daughter-in-law and harassing her parents with demands for dowry.

Mr. Hoble is also the chairman of the State-owned OBC Corporation. After this submission was made by Public Prosecutor Clarita Simoes, the JMFC Vijayalaxmi Shivolkar adjourned the hearing to October 12. The petition has been filed by Suchitra Shirodkar, mother of the victim who also sought that the court direct the police to properly investigate the case as the accused was politically influential.

Acting on a complaint filed by Ms. Shirodkar over the harassment and torture to her daughter, the Women Police Station had on July 12 booked Mr. Hoble, his wife Sandhya and son Milind under Sections 498-A, 323, 506(ii) read with 34 of Indian Penal Code and Sections 3 & 4 of Dowry Prevention Act. Mr. Hoble has denied the accusations.
