Appointment not on merit: DMK

February 09, 2018 09:02 pm | Updated 09:02 pm IST - COIMBATORE

Appointment of Vice-Chancellors to universities in Tamil Nadu was not based either on merit or on education qualifications, said DMK principal secretary Duraimurugan here on Friday.

The appointments were always with the aim of filling the pockets, he told reporters at the Coimbatore Airpot. Mr. Duraimurugan was on way to Erode to oversee arrangements for the party’s zonal conference.

Referring to Cauvery dispute, he said that meeting the Karnataka Chief Minister when the State was in an election mode was ill-timed. The government should have thought about it earlier.
