Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had a narrow escape today when his helicopter with two others onboard took off from Gidhar in Jamui district with its door open, police said.

Food Minister Narendra Singh and JD(U) national spokesman Shivanand Tiwary were onboard the chopper when the pilot noticed that the door was open and immediately landed, Superintendent of Police Vinode Kumar said.

Mr. Kumar was on his way to the residence of late Digvijay Singh, a former Union Minister, to offer his condolence to the bereaved family.

The helicopter took off again after the problem was rectified, the SP said.
