As part of the measures taken for ensuring the rights of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers to access and use the Minor Forest Produce, the Union Environment Ministry has >requested the States to direct the Forest Departments to treat bamboo as a Minor Forest Produce and respect the rights accrued to these communities as per the Forest Rights Act, 2006.
