Gaza killing
On April 3, a 25-year-old Gaza man was killed by Israeli fire as he threw stones in the area of the border fence, Gaza’s Health Ministry said.
Clashes erupted on March 31 as tens of thousands of Gazans marched near the Israeli border in a major protest, with 16 Palestinians killed and hundreds more wounded in the conflict’s worst single day of violence since the 2014 Gaza war.
Congress protests in capital
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee Workers staged a protest against weakening of SC/ST Act in New Delhi. The Congress-led opposition created uproar in Upper House over various issues including softening of provisions of the SC/ST Atrocities Act. The Rajya Sabha was today adjourned till 2.00 p.m. without transacting any legislative business.
Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu called the protests, which have not allowed any business to be transacted since the House met on March 5, as a "murder of democracy".
Prince Charles lands in Australia for CWG
Prince Charles and his wife Camilla have landed under a gray sky that threatened rain in Brisbane city on the heir to the British throne’s 16th visit to Australia. The visit starting on Wednesday equals his mother Queens Elizabeth II’s tally of 16 royal tours of the former British colony and comes as the monarch winds back her international travel commitments. Her eldest child arrived in Australia while the country’s relationships with Britain and its monarchy are under renewed scrutiny.
Tourists, commuters seek workarounds

Rail unions and President Emmanuel Macron’s government are holding firm so far in a battle over a plan to abolish a benefits system that allows train drivers and others jobs for life. The SNCF rail authority said some 86% of trains were canceled nationwide on Wednesday.

Actor-politician Kamal Haasan will address his maiden public meeting of newly founded Makkal Needhi Maiyam (MNM) in Tiruchi on on Wednesday. Earlier, at a press meet, when asked about the Cauvery row, he said the Tamil Nadu government can’t ‘hallucinate’ over a Cauvery management board.

A day after the ruling AIADMK led by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy CM O. Panneerselveam observed fast across Tamil Nadu over formation of a Cauvery management board, the opposition DMK held a fast on the issue in Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored with a bicycle kick which was outrageous even by his standards to lead Real Madrid to an emphatic 3-0 win away to Juventus in their Champions League quarter-final, first leg on Tuesday. With his back to goal, Ronaldo launched himself into the air to meet Dani Carvajal's chipped ball and produced a perfectly-executed bicycle shot which flew past keeper Gianluigi Buffon and put Real 2-0 ahead.

Protest in Palestine continues
The Palestinian death toll in last week’s mass protest on the Gaza-Israel border rose to 18, officials said, as Israel rejected allegations of unlawful use of lethal force against unarmed demonstrators. More than 750 Palestinians were wounded by Israeli fire in Friday’s protest, according to Gaza health officials, making it the bloodiest day in Gaza.
Protest in Brazil
Thousands of Brazilians demonstrated in favour of prison for former president and election frontrunner Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on the eve of a Supreme Court ruling on whether he should start serving a 12 year sentence for corruption. Up to 20,000 people turned out after work in the country’s biggest city Sao Paulo, as well as a few thousand in Rio de Janeiro and smaller numbers in other cities.
YouTube headquarters shooting
A woman opened fire with a handgun at YouTube's headquarters near San Francisco on Tuesday, injuring three people before shooting herself dead as employees of the Silicon Valley tech company fled into the surrounding streets, authorities said. Police did not identify the suspect or say what might have motivated the shooting rampage at YouTube, a video-sharing service owned by Alphabet Inc's Google.
Trump demands Congress to pass new border legislation
President Donald Trump demanded that Congress pass new border legislation using the “Nuclear Option if necessary” to muscle it through the Senate, a drastic change in rules the Republican leader has previously dismissed. Trump tweeted that the US must build a border wall, but argued that “Democrats want No Borders, hence drugs and crime!” He also said that a deal to help “Dreamer” immigrants is “dead because the Democrats didn’t care or act.”
