Ameerpet-L.B. Nagar Metro stretch opens in Hyderabad
The latest stretch in the Hyderabad Metro opened on Monday, with the Ameerpet-L.B. Nagar route. This 16 km stretch will have the entire Corridor One (Miyapur-L.B. Nagar) operational and the first of the three Corridors to be completed. It will also mean passengers from Miyapur towards L.B. Nagar need not change trains or platforms at Ameerpet.
Flooding in Bengaluru
Heavy rains lashed Bengaluru late on Sunday night and the early hours of Monday, causing drains to overflow and flooding of homes in a few localities. According to information available from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike's (BBMP) control rooms, the basements of several apartments in Gottigere in the south of the city have been flooded.
Australian filmmaker returns home after Cambodia incarceration
Australian filmmaker James Ricketson arrived in Sydney after a pardon by Cambodia's king released him from a six-year jail sentence for espionage that he received after flying a drone over an opposition rally. Ricketson was arrested in June 2017 and sought a pardon from King Norodom Sihamoni. On Friday, he was released from Phnom Penh's Prey Sar prison.
