India Women lost the opening T20 against England at Guwahati by 41 runs. Tammy Beaumont scored a half-century to lift England to 160 for 4 but India could only manage 119 for 6 in reply. This is India's fifth straight loss in T20Is.
Egypt releases prominent photojournalist after 5-year term
A prominent Egyptian photojournalist was released after five years in prison and returned home on Monday to hugs from his family and friends, pledging to continue working despite having to spend the nights at a police station nearby.
Mahmoud Abu Zaid, popularly known as “Shawkan,” was convicted of involvement in a 2013 sit-in protest by Islamists that was broken up by security forces in an operation that left hundreds dead.
“I was heading out to take photos. I come back to my home after five years,” Shawkan told at his home in Cairo’s neighbourhood of Giza.

At least 23 dead in Alabama tornado
At least 23 people died after a tornado swept through Lee County, Alabama on Sunday, and the death toll was expected to rise as rescuers searched through the rubble of destroyed homes, authorities said. Emergency workers faced a grim night of pulling the dead and injured from the wreckage of homes and businesses in the county that includes Alabama's largest city of Auburn. - Reuters
