Three persons were injured after a portion of an under-construction flyover collapsed in Basti district of eastern Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The flyover is located on National Nighway 28 near Phutaiyya crossing.

Officials on Saturday lit the 2018 Asian Games torch in Bandung, Indonesia.

Jakarta and Palembang in Sumatra are set to host about 11,000 athletes and 5,000 officials from 45 Asian countries for the August 18 to September 2 Games, the world's biggest multi-sport event behind the Olympics.

Indonesia started with less time than most host countries after it agreed to hold the Games when Vietnam pulled out.

However, officials say they are ready to take the Games in their stride.

All nine people aboard a Japanese search and rescue helicopter that crashed into the central mountains were confirmed dead on Saturday, authorities said.

The Bell 412EP helicopter carrying seven local rescue workers from the Gunma prefecture and two from a flight service company lost contact about an hour after takeoff on Friday and crashed.

Prefectural officials said the last person aboard was retrieved Saturday and pronounced dead.

Chandrasekharan have set out from the State capital to survey the flood-ravaged parts of the State. The team were to conduct aerial survey of the entire eastern stretch of the State and will visit the worst-hit areas in Idukki, Wayanad, Kozhikode and Ernakulam.

However, the team was unable to land in Idukki due to the weather conditions. "Bad weather at the decided landing spot near Kattappana in Idukki has forced them to abandon landing," said the CM's office on Twitter. "Now the team is heading towards Wayanad."

After almost a month of wildfires, the National Weather Service warned that satellite images showed “widespread smoke” drifting from the fires into western and central Canada before heading back south in the US Northern Plains.
