Extinction Rebellion have organised a nationwide week of action, they are calling for a full-scale Rebellion to demand decisive action from governments on climate change and ecological collapse. They plan to engage in acts of non-violent civil disobedience against governments in capital cities around the world.

A scuffle broke out between Congress workers and BJP supporters during Congress candidate from Mumbai North, Urmila Matondkar’s election campaign at Borivali on Monday, police said. The BJP workers chanted slogans outside the Borivali railway station, shouting ‘Modi, Modi’ as they confronted the Congress workers, an onlooker said.

Ms. Matondkar approached the Borivali police station and lodged a police complaint after the scuffle. She has sought police protection after the incident and is expected to address media on the incident later in the day, an aide of the Congress candidate said. BJP has fielded sitting MP Gopal Shetty from the constituency.

Congress MP and Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha candidate Shashi Tharoor sustained injuries during a ‘thulabharam’ offering at a temple here on Vishu day on Monday.

The incident occurred at the Gandhari Amman Kovil in Thampanoor by around 11 a.m. when the weighing scale on which Dr. Tharoor was sitting, broke and fell. A heavy hook also gave way and struck him on his head.

Pete Buttigieg, the little-known Indiana mayor who has risen to prominence in the early stages of the 2020 Democratic presidential race, made his official campaign entrance Sunday by claiming the mantle of a youthful generation ready to reshape the country.

“I recognize the audacity of doing this as a Midwestern millennial mayor,” he said to cheers of “Pete, Pete, Pete” from an audience assembled in a former Studebaker auto plant. “More than a little bold, at age 37, to seek the highest office in the land.” In the hours after his announcement, more than $1 million in donations poured in, said Lis Smith, speaking for the campaign. - AP
