Yoga looks difficult, says Putin

“I do not know how to do yoga. When you people do it, it looks difficult. That is why I have not tried it”.

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi talking about yoga in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin here on Wednesday, the latter said the ancient Indian spiritual practice “looks difficult” and that is why he has not tried it.

As the two leaders met ahead of the BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summits, Mr. Modi thanked Mr. Putin with regard to the celebrations of the International Day of Yoga on June 21 in Russia.

Yoga will provide holistic healthcare to the new generation, Mr. Modi said.

In response, 62-year-old Putin, said: “I do not know how to do yoga. When you people do it, it looks difficult. That is why I have not tried it.”
