Woman rescued shortly after she was kidnapped

A 20-year-old woman was rescued by police within minutes after she was allegedly kidnapped by a gang here on Tuesday.

A 20-year-old woman was rescued by police within minutes after she was allegedly kidnapped by a gang here on Tuesday.

Police said Gomathy was allegedly kidnapped by a gang members who were following her in a car when she was on the way to the bus stand with her mother Mallika.

Mallika raised an alarm and informed the Namakkal distirct Police S P Subbulakhsmi, who alerted all the police stations and deployed police team to check vehicles.

Police managed to trace the car at Malliakarai and rescued the woman 20 km away from where she was kidnapped.

The gang members were arrested and are investigating the motive behind the kidnap, police said.
