Former President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday indicated that he would go ahead with his visit to the Nagpur headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) next Thursday.

There has been no official communication from Mr. Mukherjee’s office but a Bengali daily, Anandabazar Patrika , quoted him as saying: “Whatever I have to say, I will say in Nagpur.”

The newspaper also reported that he had received letters and phone calls urging him to reconsider his decision but he had not responded to any of them.

The latest from the Congress to do so was Jairam Ramesh, who in his letter, mentioned “about writing in great pain and anguish to someone with whom he has worked very very closely for 28 years.”

Mr. Mukherjee has been invited to address the valedictory session of the new recruits on the completion of their Tritya Varsh Varg (Third Year Course) on June 7.
