Unhappy at the order of the special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court to discharge BJP president Amit Shah in the fake encounter cases, Rubabuddin, brother of one of the victims, Sohrabuddin Sheikh, blamed the agency for putting up a “weak” case against the accused.

“The CBI is sold. Now we have no faith in the agency,” he told presspersons outside the court on Tuesday here in Mumbai. “They deliberately made out a weak case against Mr. Shah to ensure that he is not indicted,” he alleged.

Rubabuddin now plans to challenge the order in the Bombay High Court. “I am going to appeal against the court’s order in the High Court and if need be, also knock on the doors of the Supreme Court for justice,” he said.

Counsel for Mr. Shah welcomed the order, saying they stood vindicated by the court. “The court asserted our contention that the case against Mr. Shah was politically motivated. We had from the very beginning claimed that Mr. Shah had no role to play in the case and that he was wrongly framed,” S.V. Raju, counsel, said.
