WhatsApp bomb hoax: He had threatened Delhi-based industrialist too

Sales executive M.G. Gokul, who was arrested for murdering his wife and sending hoax bomb threats to Kempegowda International Airport, has also been booked for sending a message to a New-Delhi based industrialist demanding Rs. 1 crore.

According to the police, Gokul, who planned to put his friend Saju Jose behind bars so that he could marry his wife, sent messages through WhatsApp asking the industrialist to cough up the amount or face dire consequences.

The messages to Jose and the KIA were sent around the same time. The city police have given a clean chit to both Jose and his wife.

Gokul confessed to the police that he sent the messages to ensure that Jose would be arrested on multiple charges and jailed so that he could spend time with his wife, who he claimed to be in love with.

The police searched Gokul’s apartment and recovered a phone, laptop and other digital material, which will be sent to cyber forensics experts for a detailed analysis. A team of officials from the Central Investigating Agency also grilled Gokul.

Meanwhile, a team of police officers from New Delhi is expected in the city on Tuesday to secure Gokul’s custody for further investigations into the threat case registered there.
