We’ll hold ghar vapsi events across India: Adityanath

Amid the controversy over the recent “conversion” of around 200 families in Agra and the one proposed at Aligarh, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath on Sunday declared that the campaign would be organised across the country in the days to come.

“The ghar vapsi campaign will not be confined to Uttar Pradesh alone,” said the BJP MP from Gorakhpur.

Addressing the “Sant Samagam” organised by the north Bihar unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Vaishali district, he said the ghar vapsi campaign was not religious conversion. “As many believe, it is not dharm parivartan [religious conversion]. It’s a homecoming of those whose forefathers had converted years ago.”

The MP, known for his incendiary comments, also said that they had been receiving huge support and response from people across the country for the campaign. “I see opposition to this ghar vapsi campaign as opposition to Hindutva,” he added.

Former Bihar BJP president Gopal Narayan Singh, the local MP from Lok Janshakti Party Ramakishore Singh, hundreds of seers and villagers were present.

Other speakers appealed for unity among Hindus to strengthen the country.

Earlier, the BJP MP had declared that he would participate in the ghar vapsi programme to be held on a larger scale in Aligarh on December 25. “The programme will happen and those who want to return voluntarily are welcome,” he said.
