Bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh, arrested in the IPL spot-fixing case, tried to contact Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Chief Executive Officer Venky Mysore, Mumbai police sources revealed on Monday.
They claimed that while Vindoo tried to extract ‘strategic’ information from Mr. Mysore, it was unlikely that he was able to get very far.
“While it is certain that Vindoo is known to the KKR’s CEO, it is doubtful as to how much information he succeeded in getting from Venky [Mysore],” said a top police officer.
Contacts with Pakistan-based bookies
During his interrogation it was revealed that Delhi-based bookie Ashwani Aggarwal, known as ‘Tinku Mandi’, was a frequent visitor to Dubai and had direct contacts with Pakistan-based bookies, he said.
Aggarwal was brought here from Delhi last week on a transit remand to ascertain his links with other bookies and players accused in the spot-fixing case.
“Aggarwal had paid three visits to Dubai where he was in touch with Pakistani bookie Javed Chotani and a person by the name of Salman,” said the officer.
Mumbai police also said that during his interrogation, Aggarwal had revealed that how he, along with Nagpur-based bookie Sunil Bhatia, met Rajasthan Royals players Ajit Chandila and his colleague Ankeet Chavan in New Delhi’s Ashoka Hotel to make a spot-fixing proposition to the duo.
“Tinku said sign codes were adopted by Bhatia and Chandila to decide on how the latter would underplay certain overs in a particular game,” said the officer.
