Two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants were killed in an operation by security forces in Kupwara’s Lolab in Kashmir on Thursday afternoon, according to Director General of Police S.P. Vaid.

Bilal Shah from Kupwara’s Shart Muqam and Zahoor from Kalaroos were travelling in a vehicle when the operation was launched against them.

The Army’s 41 Rashtriya Rifles and the police’s Special Operation Group laid an ambush for the vehicle at Shumriyal. “The driver of the vehicle escaped unhurt,” said an official.

An INSAS rifle, snatched from a policeman on Tuesday this week at Kandhar area of Maidanpora, Lolab, was seized from them, police said.
