Two AIADMK MPs to attend Akhilesh Yadav's swearing-in

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has congratulated Akhilesh Yadav on his becoming the youngest Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He is to assume office on March 15.

According to an official release, the Chief Minister, who spoke to Mr. Akhilesh Yadav over phone on Sunday, congratulated him on his party's victory in the just-concluded elections to the UP Assembly.

She also said that he had been entrusted with a huge responsibility and the people of UP were expecting quite a lot from him. She expressed the hope that he would be able to fulfil their expectations with the blessings of the Lord and co-operation of the people. When Samajwadi party leader Mulayam Singh requested her to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the Council of Ministers, Ms. Jayalalithaa expressed her inability to attend as she was preoccupied with the campaigning at Sankarankoil which is facing the by-election on March 18. She would depute All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhgam MPs M. Thambidurai and V. Maitreyan to represent the party at the function, the release added.
