The Central Bureau of Investigation has in its charge sheet against Janata Dal (United) Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Sahani accused him of cheating the Rajya Sabha Secretariat of Rs.23.71 lakh by claiming travel expenses on forged air e-tickets and boarding passes.

Among those charged are N.S. Nair, then the Office Superintendent (Traffic) with Air India, Anup Singh Panwar, an employee of Air Cruise Travels Private Limited, and a private person named Arvind Tiwari.

“Investigation revealed that the MP, in conspiracy with other persons, allegedly used forged e-tickets and fake boarding passes to claim travel and dearness allowances without undertaking actual journey,” a CBI official said.

The charge sheet has been filed under various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code.

First elected to the Rajya Sabha in January 2010, the parliamentarian from Bihar served as a member in several parliamentary committees. Dr. Sahani was re-elected to the House of Elders and is currently on the Committee on Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme.
