Transpersonal counselor Renu Fotedar killed in avalanche

The 48-year-old was last seen at the Everest base camp, and in absence of official information about the campers, the family had started a social media campaign to help locate her.

Australian national, Renu Fotedar who was on an expedition to the Everest has been confirmed killed in the avalanche that was triggered by the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday.

The Hindu had earlier reported about how her family had been trying to seek information about Ms. Fotedar, who had last spoken to her son the afternoon before the avalanche. The 48-year-old was last seen at the Everest base camp, and in absence of official information about the campers, the family had started a social media campaign to help locate her.

Condoling her death, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Julie Bishop, has extended her sympathies to the family.

Born in Kashmir, Ms. Fotedar completed an MBA at the University of Wollongong before setting up a business in Melbourne in 2005.

Ms. Fotedar was learnt to have recently moved to Switzerland with her family, she is survived by her husband and two sons.

Her son earlier told The Hindu , that during their last conversation, Ms. Fotedar had described how incredible the Everest was and she could feel the earth rumbling underneath her mattress at night.
