We are gratified that our appeal for funds to assist those who suffered as a result of Cyclone Gaja in many districts of Tamil Nadu, has evoked a generous response from readers.
As on today, the total sum contributed by readers amounts to Rs.1,08,11,886. Employees of The Hindu Group of Publications have contributed another 10,08,000. Together, the amount is Rs.1,18,19,886.
Collections for this cyclone relief fund will be closed at the end of the banking hours of December 28, 2018, after which the total amount will be handed over to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
