Estranged cousins Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray have locked horns over a topic far removed from the world of politics or issues concerning Marathi people. The bone of contention is the former's passion for photography.
Jungle safari
At a recent press conference, Mr. Raj Thackeray, who is the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief, mocked at Mr. Uddhav Thackeray, who is the Shiv Sena executive president, saying he should have snapped Mumbai's potholes instead of animals on a recent jungle safari. This would have revealed to what extent the city had been ruined.
‘Inane statements'
Reacting sharply, Mr. Uddhav Thackeray said the MNS chief was in the habit of making meaningless and inane statements to which neither he nor the people of Maharashtra would pay any attention.
“Those who sin by creating ‘potholes' in the unity of the Marathi people will never understand the humanity of the lens and the love of mute animals,” he said. Calling his cousin a “disloyal animal,” he said there was great pleasure in taking snaps of a loyal jungle animal.
‘Free advice'
He said if Mr. Raj Thackeray had completed his education at the JJ School of Arts, he would have understood the value of the camera and photography. Some people “needlessly interfered” in matters and gave “free advice” and hobnobbed with self-made, successful and meritorious people in a bid to garner free publicity. If that failed, they engaged in mudslinging.
He also criticised Mr. Raj Thackeray for “maligning” Maharashtra in Gujarat on a recent tour.
