Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju told Parliament on Wednesday that Maoist groups and terror outfits such as the Jaish-e-Mohammad and the Hizbul Mujahideen were “using children.”

However, there were no reports that children were used as human bombs, he said during the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha.

In the Left-wing extremism-affected States such as Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar, there were reports that “some groups use children in their nefarious designs to destabilise the State,” he said.

He added that the government was trying to open schools and carry out skill development activities to bring the children in those areas to the mainstream. “According to our information, two other terror organisations, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Hizbul Mujahideen, have also used children,” he said.
