“The visit of Mission Bhagiratha vice- chairman Vemula Prashanth Reddy was cancelled at the last minute. However, Joint Collector and about 150 people from Nalgonda are visiting the village. I sought your cooperation in making the programme a grand success,” was the message posted by M. Srinivas Rao, Mandal arishad Development Officer (MPDO), Toopran, in the ‘Make in Malkapur goup of WhatsApp last Tuesday stating that it was a late night information.

Within no time, the message reached all the 80 plus members which included local youth groups, officials and the media.

By the time Mr. Srinivas reached the village, the residents were busy erecting a tent, arranging chairs and keeping the dustbins.

Whatever the communication is required; all the members are depending on WhatsApp messaging system. The members also did not hesitate to post photos or videos of places in the village where the official attention was required. They were also posting programme details to the media as well so that they were well informed about the developments taking place in the village.

Shakuntala and Sushila, two women in the village are instrumental in successfully making the people to use the individual toilets constructed in the village. Some of the women going on the road for some work had set a tree guard strait, voluntarily, which fell down due to gales.

“The youth from neighbouring Yavapur and Konapur are inspired with the activity in this village. They have also formed WhatsApp group to communicate and disseminate information. The problem of communicating with individuals solved and this has been motivating them all,” said Mr. Srinivas.
