Even while the government is taking steps to acquire the lands from the farmers of Vemulaghat in Toguta mandal for the Mallannasagar project, some of the farmers of mandal headquarters stalled the works once again on Tuesday.

According to one of the farmers, Ch. Naveen, machines were brought to the fields with police protection stating that they would be commencing works shortly and former MLA Ch Muthyam Reddy would formally launch the work. When the farmers asked about the compensation they were yet to receive, the contractors reportedly told them that they were not concerned with the issue it has to be taken up at the appropriate authority.

The land oustees warned the contractor it would be violation of court orders and hence they would be forced to approach the court once again. After heated argument for sometime the contractor retreated but leaving the heavy machinery at the work place. The farmers have decided to lodge a complaint with the district authorities in this regard.
