October 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - ADILABAD:

A woman and her son died in a strange incident of suicide at RIMS Hospital in Adilabad on Friday.

The deceased belonged to Sangvi (K) village in Jainad mandal and had consumed pesticide the previous day.

According to police, 38-year-old Ushkem Bhumakka was living with her 10-year-old mentally-challenged son, Sunil, at her mother’s house in Sangvi following her husband’s death three years ago. He was a resident of Pipri village in Pandharkawda taluk of Maharashtra.

Utter poverty prompted Bhumakka to

take the extreme step. Unfortunately, her son too consumed the poison having seen his mother do it, but unaware of what he was doing.

The duo was admitted to the RIMS Hospital where the mother died late in the night and Sunil early on Friday.
