Woman killed in accident

A 35-year-old woman was killed on the spot and another person injured when a speeding lorry hit them at Vinayakapuram village in Aswaraopeta mandal on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as M. Pentamma, 35, a native of Chintalapudi in West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh.

Sources said that Pentamma suffered fatal injuries after being hit by a lorry from the rear side near the village on Aswaraopeta-Bhadrachalam main road in the morning. A middle-aged man, who was accompanying Pentamma, also sustained serious injuries in the incident.

He was taken to a hospital in the mandal headquarters. The duo were walking towards a local temple in the vicinity of the village when the mishap took place. A case has been registered.
