Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao unveiled the new industrial policy of the State amidst a large gathering of captains of industry here on Friday and promised to live upto their expectations.

Though a framework of the policy was available, what made the formal launch special was the simultaneous unveiling of the TS-iPass assurance pertaining to time-bound clearances for projects.

The highlight of the provision is that the officials concerned will be penalised at the rate of Rs.1,000 a day for delay in according the clearances.

Land bank

Built on the foundations of minimum inspection, maximum facilitation, the policy is ably supported by the 1.5 lakh acres of land readily available with the Government for allotment to industry.

The Chief Minister, who launched a portal on which entrepreneurs could file applications online and seek clearances, said that he had asked for formation of special team of protocol officers in the Industries Department.

This he said while explaining the process to be pursued by his Government to issue time-bound clearances to industry, including those pertaining to land, water and power availability.

Law and Order

Seeking to address concerns of industry, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said that law and order was getting high priority from his Government. The government will install 1.15 lakh CCTV cameras in Hyderabad, and had formed SHE police team to curb eve-teasing. The Government, he added, had also decided to recruit 33 per cent women in the police force.

On specific measures under consideration for industry, the Chief Minister said that plug and play industrial parks were being contemplated. These parks will be equipped with all facilities to help the units get going without delays.

Recalling that a participant at a meeting he addressed in Singapore pointed out that even if 50 per cent of what he promised is implemented, it would result in investors queuing up, Mr.Chandrasekhar Rao declared: "We will live upto your expectations".

Happening place

Hyderabad and Telangana, he added, will be made the most happening place in the country. Clearances for all industrial projects will be 100 per cent corruption-free, he said, adding that his Government's action would speak and no hype created.

Salient features of the policy include: special incentive package for SC/ST and women entrepreneurs; 10 per cent water from all irrigation sources reserved exclusively for industries; and setting up of Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad towards industry-institution linkage.
