Minister for Panchayat Raj and Information Technology K.T. Rama Rao said that drinking water would be supplied for about three crore population with an investment of Rs. 36,000 crore in three years.

Addressing a public meeting after laying foundation for water grid scheme at Velikatta village in Kondapaka mandal of Medak district on Wednesday, Mr. Rama Rao said that 507 habitations spread in 12 mandals of Siddipet,Dubbak and Gajwel constituencies.

“The government has been trying to address the problem of drinking water by the water grid project. The project will be completed in three years. Pipelines will be laid for 1.25 lakh km and water will be lifted from Godavari at 17 places. Gajwel segment work will be competed in the next six seven months and drinking water will be supplied to Janagam in Warangal, Aler and Bhuvanagiri in Nalgonda and Medchal in Ranga Reddy district,” said the Minister. He said that about two lakh people suffering from flourosis in waterwould be benefitted from the scheme by getting potable water. MP K. Prabhakar Reddy, ZP Chairman Rajamani, MLC P. Sudhakar Reddy and others were present.
