A Village Revenue Assistant was stabbed to death at Pulimamidi village of Anumula mandal here on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as D. Giri (24). The police are suspecting the hand of another youth, Nakrekanti Saidulu, a resident of the same village, in the murder. The villagers told the police that the deceased was coming towards the village after relieving himself near a stream when the accused allegedly stabbed him, following an argument. Giri died on the spot. Following the incident, Giri’s friends attacked the houses of Nagesh and his relatives. Miryalaguda DSP Sandeep Gone and Halyia Inspector K. Parthasarthi rushed to the spot and brought the situation under the control. Though the exact motive behind the murder has not yet been ascertained, sources said the VRA and the accused had an argument over transporting sand from a local stream.
