iB Cricket has taken cricket fans by storm, says Vasanth Sai

Vasanth Sai, a IIIT Hyderabad alumnus, and Trivikram, an alumnus of IIT Delhi, are the founders of ProYuga, that built the iB Cricket in a span of nine months to take the cricket fans by storm with what is claimed to be the first version of its kind. In a chat with The Hindu , Mr. Vasanth talks about the format in detail. Here are the excerpts:

What exactly does it mean?

First, we are glad that iB Cricket is the official partner of four IPL franchisees – CSK, RCB, RR and Delhi Capitals. It is taking the game closer to the fans and making them feel the world-class stadium sitting indoors.

How long did it take for conceptualisation?

It took nine months for iB Cricket to go from an idea to a working format. Every cricket fan loves to play the game in the stadium under floodlights with the crowd around. So, we thought of presenting them this great opportunity in simulated ambience.

What’s the technology used to create it?

We had to create a virtually real cricket world with world-class stadiums, bowlers, fielders, customised commentary, cheering crowd, floodlights and pavilions, and most of all, the realistic feel experienced by the batsman while playing, using the virtual reality technology.

What makes this concept unique from other virtual games?

iB Cricket is built as a vSport. It is the closest that a game can get to the real sport. We have modelled several levels in iB Cricket. We have also incorporated a personalised AI coach that analyses and assists you in honing your talent and perfecting your batting skills.

What are the sale models?

In India, we are going forward with a franchise model to establish arcades, and would slowly shift to retail sales. Specific to iB Cricket, we are planning to have 10,000 arcades across India over the next two-three years and many more across the globe.

What about the existing fan base for the concept?

Till date, over 15,000 people from across the world, including the ones from non-cricket playing nations, have played and loved iB Cricket. More than 95% of them say the product is extraordinary. It has opened business opportunities in five countries – India, Australia, Singapore, Dubai and the U.K.
