In a massive fire accident, part of a tyres manufacturing unit got gutted, and black smoke emitted from the factory in Patancheru and travelled for kilometres.
Fire broke out in Agarwal Rubber Industries at 2 a.m. on Tuesday at Pashamylaram in Patancheru mandal when heavy winds hit the area resulting in sparks from the a transformer on the premises igniting rubber material. The sparks ignited the material stores adjacent to a shed which had heavy machinery.
Eight fire fighting machines were roped in from BHEL, Miyapur, Pashamylaram, Kukatpally, BDL, Sangareddy and other areas to control the fire. Many of the huge modern machinery that were erected in the same shed, also melted down due to the heat generated from the burning of rubber material. Fire tenders found it difficult to enter the factory premises as there was no proper road too.
It became a challenging task for fire fighters to control the inferno as the material inside the shed was highly inflammable and took a long time to douse the flames. Fire was seen in small pockets till late in the night and fire fighters had to be there at the spot due to the nature of the material that was burning.
Large number of workers belonging to the industry rushed to the spot and moved other material to safer godowns. Had they not shifted the material, the loss would have been much higher. The officials were yet to estimate the loss incurred by the industry. The factory belongs to one Amith Agarwal.
Few months ago a huge fire accident took place in the godown of the same industry which had resulted in huge loss.
Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy also visited the spot and assured the industrialists of taking the two incidents to the notice of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
