Two wine shop workers robbed at gunpoint

Miscreants run off with ₹6.7 lakh

Two workers of a wine shop were robbed at gunpoint at Ramannagudem village in Kodakandla mandal here late on Wednesday night.

According to information reaching here, five robbers pointed a country gun at the employees of a wine shop late on Tuesday night and ran off with ₹ 6.70 lakh in cash at Ramannagudem in Kodakandla in Jangaon district.

The police said two employees of Tirumala Wines, Srinu and Ramesh returned home after closing down the shop at night as usual and were on their way on a two-wheeler to Palakurthi with the money from their counter. The robbers blocked their way on the outskirts of the village at around 11 p.m. and demanded that they hand over the money bag to them. When the employees protested, one of the robbers fired two rounds into the air. Shocked and frightened, the duo handed over the money bag. They later reported the incident to their owner, who informed the police. The police are yet to make any headway into the incident.

Special teams

Warangal Commissioner of Police V Ravinder visited the site where the incident took place and said they are still on the hunt for the accused robbers. Special teams would investigate all possible angles to nab the gang. Wardhannapet Assistant Commissioner of Police Madhusudhan, Palakurthy inspector Ramesh Naik said special teams were deployed to trace the dacoits.
