The 2600-MWs National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) Ramagundan was generating only 1300 MWs of power on Thursday following the tripping of two units of 500 MWs each on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
Reports reaching here said that the fifth unit of 500 MWs tripped on Wednesday night and the fourth unit of 500 MWs stopped power generation due to technical snag on Thursday morning. The arrival of wet coal following the rains had caused technical problem such as tube leakages at both the units causing stalling of power generation.
The authorities have begun action to restore power generation by rectifying the problems in both the units. However, the sources said, it would take at least another two days for the restoration of power generation.
