Two policemen were grievously injured when a speeding lorry crashed into a jeep in which they were carrying out patrolling in Bhadrachalam town, in the early hours of Sunday.

According to police sources, a lorry collided head on with the police patrol vehicle on the Bhadrachalam-Kunavaram main road in the temple town in the small hours of the day. The lorry driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to drowsiness, when the accident took place.

Dasaiah, a constable, and Nageswara Rao, a head constable of Bhadrachalam town police station, sustained multiple head injuries in the mishap. The local SI, who was also travelling in the police patrol vehicle, reportedly escaped unhurt in the incident.

While Mr. Dasaiah was admitted to a local hospital, Mr. Nageswara Rao, who suffered bleeding injuries on his head and ears, was rushed to a super-specialty hospital in Hyderabad.
