Two brothers from Bansilalpet, who went for a swim in a tank at Jawaharnagar, got drowned on Monday morning. The teenagers, Pavan (16) and Pranith (13) of Bansilapet along with their relative Hemanth, went to the Chennapuram tank without informing their elders.
After playing around the tank for sometime Pavan and Pranith entered into the water body for a swim while Hemanth stood outside. “Neither of them know how to swim and got drowned in the tank,” Inspector Jawaharnagar P Venkatagiri said.
Hemanth, who noticed them drowning rushed back to his house and informed about the incident to his father Shanganti Kumar. However, by the time the police and the relatives reached the children got drowned. Later, Srinivas Goud, a constable working with the Jawaharnagar police retrieved the bodies from the tank. The police shifted the bodies to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Both of them had come a few days ago as part of Dasera vacation to their maternal uncle Shanganti Kumar who lives at Balajinagar. Emotional scenes were witnessed near the tank when the bodies were retrieved from the place. Parents of the teenagers wept inconsolably on seeing the bodies of their dear ones.
