Girl students can apply online before March 26

Admission into degree first year courses offered by the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) women’s residential degree colleges would be conducted through the Telangana Social Welfare Degree Common Entrance Test (TSWDCET) on April 16.

Giving details to the media here on Monday, TSWREIS regional coordinator Anantha Laxmi, Karimnagar Women’s Residential Degree College principal T. Laxman Rao, vice-president Geetha Rani, and academic coordinator Stella said girl students who want to get admitted into the TS Residential Degree College for Women should apply online before March 26.

The government has set up a total of 30 Residential Women’s Degree Colleges in the State, out of which 23 have started functioning from the academic year 2016-2017. The remaining would start from the 2017-2018 academic year.

Reservation for SCs

They said 75% seats were reserved for SC women, and the remaining for backward classes. The government has set up specialised colleges to prepare students for civil services examinations at Rajendranagar, Mahendra Hills, Secunderabad, Sangareddy, and Ibrahimpatnam.

The Residential Women’s Degree College secured a a pass percentage of 90 in the recently-released Satavahana University examination results, with three students scoring 10 grade point average (GPA) and 130 scoring 9 GPA.

The girl students had also excelled in sports and other extra curricular activities in the college. The management was also launching ‘Summer Sumurai’ special coaching classes to excel in various special courses and skills, they said.
