TSRTC gears up for Medaram jatara

The TSRTC is gearing up to transport 20 lakh devotees daily during the Medaram Jatara, said the corporation’s regional manager Yadagiri.

Speaking to newsmen here on Monday, he said keeping in view the heavy rush that had already begin to Medaram village, it was decided to start special operations from February 14 till February 21. “A total of 3,605 buses will be deployed to take devotees from 51 points in the State to Medaram. As many as 1,910 buses from Warangal, 640 buses from Karimnagar, 410 buses from Khammam, 225 buses from Nizamabad, 360 buses from Adilabad and 60 buses from Rangareddy (Hyderabad) will take devotees to their destinations. We have another 400 buses reserved to meet any exigencies,” he said. TSRTC is setting up temporary bus stations at Medaram with minimum facilities for devotees.

Shelter, drinking water and toilets will be made available at the bus station. Announcement about buses will be made continuously over loudspeakers. A wireless mobile communication system will be in place for employees on duty. Volunteers to guide the devotees at the boarding alighting points will be deployed at all places. In view of the restrictions on private vehicles after Narlapur to Medaram, the RTC will operate shuttle services connecting such points.

The RTC will also be operating Air conditioned buses from Hyderabad to Medaram and back. Devotees who prefer to travel by these buses must book their tickets in advance. A total of 7,300 drivers, 2,500 conductors, 1,000 security personnel, 500 supervisors and 150 other officers will be drafted for jatara special duties. The RTC will be charging Rs 150 from Warangal to Medaram for adults and Rs 310 from Hyderabad to Medaram. In super luxury service, it will be charge Rs 190 from Warangal to Medaram per adult and Rs 420 from Hyderabad to Medaram. The AC bus fare will be Rs 230 from Warangal and Rs 510 from Hyderabad to Medaram.
