TS districts top national Swachh Darpan rankings

Centre ranked 700 districts on ODF

Six districts of Telangana bagged the first rank in the national rankings in Swachchta Darpan Phase III for Open Defecation Free (ODF) under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The Centre ranked 700 districts in the country based on several parameters — construction of individual sanitary latrines and their verification, geo-tagging, community toilets, community soak pits, Swachh Bharat information, education and communication activities etc.

Karimnagar, Warangal, Jagtial, Kamareddy, Peddapalli and Rajanna Siricilla in Telangana bagged the first rank along with Devbhoomi Dwarka in Gujarat and Rewari in Haryana. The six districts scored 100 out of 100 in all the parameters put together and emerged top rankers.

Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Arvind Kumar in a tweet congratulated the district collectors and municipal commissioners for the hard work that made it possible.

Mahbubnagar district got national 19th rank and Wanaparthy got 20 th rank. The districts of Telangana that got below 100 national rank are Khammam, Medchal, Janagaon, Jogulamba Gadwal and Mancherial. Within the State, after six top ranking districts, Mahbubnagar and Wanaparthy got second and third ranks respectively. Ranga Reddy district was 23rd in State and 303 in national ranks.
