The Telangana Rashtra Samithi will be the Janata Dal(S) in Telangana in the 2019 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party predicted on Sunday. The ruling party in the State will form an unholy alliance with the Congress party in the next election to remain in power but, unsuccessfully, said BJP State president K. Laxman.
He criticised the TRS for welcoming the JD(S) forming government in Karnataka with the help of Congress party. “This shows Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will support the Congress in future,” he said at a press conference here on Sunday. Another indicator of the TRS being supportive of Congress, Mr. Laxman pointed out, is the stay of Karnataka Congress MLAs-elect in Hyderabad. “Who is the TRS leader who brought the MLAs to Hyderabad,” he questioned seeking an answer from the TRS. Talking about his party’s entry into the south, the BJP president said Karnataka voters had opened the doors to the south in the polls. “We will also win in Telangana riding the wave of development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he affirmed.
“The TRS and Congress are scared of the popularity of the schemes of the Centre. These parties are trying to create obstacles for us from coming to power as they fear the development and welfare schemes will have voters support us,” the BJP president claimed.
About the resignation of B.S. Yeddyurappa before taking the floor test in the on Assembly in Karnataka, Mr. Laxman said the BJP had emerged as a party which respected democracy by doing so. “The Congress has proved to be anti-democratic by forging an unholy alliance with the JD(S)," he charged.
The BJP leader cautioned the JD(S) of back stabbing by Congress in Karnataka. He said the national party had a history of pulling the rug from the under the feet of former Prime Minister Deve Gouda, Chandrashekhar and Charan Singh.
