TRS to stall Parliament on Monday

August 10, 2014 01:46 pm | Updated 01:46 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The TRS will stall proceedings of Parliament on Monday in protest against the Centre giving special powers to the Governor in the maintenance of law and order in Hyderabad.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has already asked the parliamentary party to raise the issue with support from floor leaders of other parties while he himself was in touch with Chief Ministers of other States to focus the issue at the national level.

Sources said the TRS will give notices to the Lok Sabha Speaker seeking suspension of question hour and tabling adjournment motion to take up the matter. If they did not work out, the party had a contingency plan to focus the controversy when its Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha will speak on some other issue during the day. The lone Rajya Sabha member, K. Keshava Rao, will anyway speak on the subject in the Upper House as he was listed to react to demands of the Home Ministry.
