Telugu Desam Party (TDP) floor leader in Telangana Assembly, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, said that they would prove that nine hours power supply to the agriculture sector was possible if the Telangana government handed over electricity operations in the State to the TDP. Otherwise, he said, all Telangana TDP MLAs would quit their posts.

Speaking to news reporters after launching a bus yatra from Koyyalagudem village of Choutuppal mandal here on Friday, he held the Telangana Rashtra Samithi led government responsible for farmers’ suicides.

TDP leaders led by the party’s Telangana Forum president L. Ramana, Mothkupalli Narasimhulu, Alimineti Umamadhava Reddy, Revanth Reddy, Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, Prakash Goud and others visited farmer Butchi Reddy’s withered paddy field at Koyyalagudem. Mr. Ramana said that the crops were withering due to the inability of the TRS led government to supply electricity for eight hours to meet agricultural needs. Leave alone the eight hours of power supply, he said the government was not even able to supply power for five hours at a stretch.

Later, the TDP leaders stopped at Veliminedu village of Chityal mandal, very close to NH-65, where they visited some cotton fields. The TDP leaders also visited Kondapakonigudem village of Narketpally mandal to meet the family members of Sama Sathi Reddy, who had committed suicide 10 days ago. The leaders presented Rs. 25,000 in cash to the family members of the deceased. The TDP leaders alleged that as many as 210 farmers had committed suicide in Telangana since the TRS came to power while Nalgonda alone had recorded 30 suicides. Later, they proceeded to Suryapet, where they organised a dharna. TDP leaders from Nalgonda, Bilya Nayak, Kancharla Bhupal Reddy and others took part.
