The TRS appeared to have conceded losing a seat or two as the exit polls for the Parliament elections unfolded on Sunday evening.
Sources said the party has reconciled to the fact that the BJP would retain the Secunderabad seat. The same was disclosed in a survey taken up by the TRS. But some senior leaders of the TRS think that the Congress might have a chance of winning one or two seats.
If the Congress was to win a lone seat, it would be Nalgonda.
But it could also be Chevella in addition to Nalgonda if the party stands a chance of winning two seats. The admission by the party sources on the eve of declaration of exit poll results is different from the its stand that it would win 16 seats while its friendly party Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen would wrest its stronghold – Hyderabad constituency.
TRS Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar said the exit polls were only predictions put out by different organisations. He added that there was no change in the party’s stand and it win 16 seats.
The TRS expects a change of guard at the Centre as it is of the belief that neither the NDA nor the UPA would form the government, but there might be a status quo, he said.
