‘TRS promoting feudalism in State’

DCC president K. Mruthyunjayam has accused the TRS government of promoting feudalism in the State and suppressing the democratic rights of citizens.

His reaction comes in connection with former Minister K.T. Rama Rao’s recent announcement of awarding ₹15 lakh from his constituency development fund to gram panchayats that unanimously elect sarpanches in the forthcoming panchayat polls.

Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday, Mr. Mruthyunjayam said the TRS has revived the governance pattern of feudal lords, who also encouraged unanimous elections in villages, and ridiculed the police for supporting the government by threatening Opposition leaders by binding over them in “false cases”.

Responding to the TRS’ claims that the Congress was scared to contest the panchayat elections, he said that latter was not at all disappointed over the defeat in the recent Assembly elections and was sure of a comeback.

The DCC president also alleged that the TRS had tampered the EVMs to win the Assembly elections and demanded a recount of VVPAT slips by the EC.
