Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and the party’s candidate for Nalgonda Lok Sabha seat N. Uttam Kumar Reddy charged Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao with lowering the ‘stature of Member of Parliament’ by nominating “land grabbers and others”.
“Will an invalid note ( chellani rupayi ) in Munugode turn legal tender in Nalgonda?” he said referring to Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidate Vemireddy Narsimha Reddy, who had contested the mandal praja parishad elections in 1987 and lost. “The way the TRS selected its candidates is an insult to the people,” he remarked.
The Huzurnagar legislator addressed the media after filing his nomination papers with Nalgonda Returning Officer here on Friday. He surprised everyone by holding the press conference at the residence of party nominee for Bhongir Constituency Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, in an indication of unity among its leaders. Mr. Reddy said the TRS, even with a full attendance of its MPs in the last term could not achieve anything for the State.
He exuded confidence that the Congress party would win all the 16 seats now and said that the promises of 12% reservations for Muslims, tribal university, Information Technology Information Region project, national status for major irrigation projects and others will be achieved. He later left for Kodad and Huzurnagar, to address party meetings. Telangana Jana Samithi leader K. Dilip Kumar, who was present along with the TPCC chief, said the party was offering its full support to Congress.
